Another big announcement has come out of the Mobile World Congress, this time by the announcement of HTC that it is to launch a new phone called the HTC Desire.  This new touchscreen smartphone runs on Android 2.1  is an upgraded to HTC’s Nexus One. To look at the HTC Desire certainly looks the business with its large screen and thin looks. Owing to the size of the screen this device weighs a hefty 135 grams which is normal for a mobile phone like this.

The processor to run this beast is a 1 GHz application processor. As you would expect from a phone like this the HTC Desire has  512 MB or ROM and 576 MB of RAM. The HTC Desire also has a microSD memory card slot that supports up to 32 GB. The user interface is a large 3.7 inches AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display which has really cool touch and pinch-to-zoom navigation. The HTC Desire has an impressive 480 x 800 pixel (WVGA) resolution.

The HTC Desire supports HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz and GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz frequencies for Europe and Asia.  This mobile phone also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and GPS. The Desire has both a USB port and a 3.5 mm stereo audio jack.

The 1400 mAh rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that comes with the phone provides up to 6.5 days of talk time on GSM (up to 390 minutes on WCDMA) or up to 15  days of standby time on GSM (up to 15 hours on WCDMA).
