Motorola QUENCH Mobile Phone Review With Video
Background Information & Look & Feel
The Motorola QUENCH is similar to other touch screen mobile phones that have just come out on the market, such the Sony Ericsson Aspen . This phone is powerful enough to be a business smartphone but because it focuses so much on delivering social media applications it should be seen primarily as a consumer targeted phone.
The phone itself is your typical looking touchscreen mobile phone device. It has about four indistinguishable buttons with hieroglyphics on them. The back is a nice textured pattern which should give you some grip whist you push your fingers around the screen. The phone weighs 124 grams and measures 117 x 59 x 12mm.

Hardware – Display, Keyboard, Battery, Communications, Memory, Connections, Multimedia
The Motorola QUENCH comes with a microSD expandable memory, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, it has USB connectivity and is a 3.5G capable mobile phone. This device supports Bluetooth A2DP, HSP, HFP profiles. In order for Bluetooth devices to communicate with one another, they must utilize the same Bluetooth profile. There’s a comprehensive multimedia player but no FM radio, however there does seem to be a standard 3.5mm audio socket.
The TFT touchscreen is 3.1″ 320 x 480 pixel. The usability of the devices is aided by the display which allows you to navigate using the touch pad or by browse the web with pinch and zoom.
The QUENCH also comes with a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and a LED flash. The camera is capable of capturing “HVGA” video at 24 frames per sec which is about 320 x 240 pixels.
The 1420 mAh battery is said to be able to provide up to 6.5 hours talktime and 13.5 days standby time which is nothing particularly special.
Software
The Motorola QUENCH is powered by Android 1.5. Whilst this is a relatively old version of the software it means that most Android applications will run on this device. One of the main gizmos on this phone is Motorola’s “MOTOBLUR”. This allows you to organise all your favourite social networking widgets so that they stream live from your home screen.
Motorola said: “It’s the first service that syncs friends, pics, emails, messages, Facebook®, MySpace and Twitter®, feeds and more. Friend-feeds, status updates, wall posts, bulletins and photo uploads from today’s most popular social sites are automatically fed to the Happenings widget. MOTOBLUR also gathers your texts, social network messages and emails together and gets them right to you, all ready for reply”
Another little cool thing about this mobile phone is that the Motorola QUENCH has GPS that allows “turn by turn” directions and a built-in compass. This means you can use your mobile phone as a car sat nav. Unlike normal sat navs the only thing you won’t have to put up with is nagging Nora telling you where to go.
Availability & Pricing
Motorola QUENCH is expected to be available beginning in Q1 2010. In the U.S., the device will be called CLIQ XT with MOTOBLUR and will be available exclusively through T-Mobile USA beginning next month. There’s no guidance on price, but as an estimate the QUENCH should be less than €300 including tax when it hits the market.
